Project-Based Learning
Our Year 6 pupils ran a food business: a real one, with real customers.
The pitch. Each team planned its products, then visited every class in the school to pitch them.
The kitchen. Then they made everything themselves: fruit cups, layered drinks, ice cream and boxed desserts, all packed and labelled “terima kasih”, with gloves on and teachers alongside.
The customers. Their classmates, younger pupils and teachers were the customers, and the teams served them.
The money they made went back into the school, into new classroom materials, posters and experiment kits, and into capital for further pupil-run ventures.
It’s project-based learning in its plainest form: a real task, a real audience and a deadline. Along the way, pupils practise planning, presenting to a room, working as a team, preparing food safely and serving people well. Their teachers guided every team from idea to serving.
Hendak seribu daya, tak hendak seribu dalih.
Meaning: Where there’s a will, there are a thousand ways.
